Dilepton Production in High Luminosity Multi-GeV Electron Scattering.
We consider the production of a 300GeV dilepton in very intense 4GeV electron scattering off of a lead target. The production cross-section and angular distribution of the resulting muons are calculated. There occur several such events per year, and their detection is rendered feasible by measurement of eμμ angular correlations. Typeset using REVTEX
متن کاملDilepton production from resonance scattering in hot hadronic matter.
Dilepton production from resonance scattering in hot hadronic matter is studied. Including the widths of these resonances, which enhance the phase space for dilepton production, we find that the production rate is significantly increased if a resonance appears in the extended phase space. For the reaction π+ρ → l+ l, the finite ρ meson width extends the invariant mass below the ω-meson mass, so...
متن کاملElectron-cloud Effects in High-luminosity Colliders
Electron-cloud instabilities are expected to be important in most high-luminosity double-ring colliders. In this report, I describe a few parameter regimes and some critical parameter dependences of this type of instability, and illustrate these with simulation results for the PEP-II and KEK B factories, the LHC, the VLHC, and DAPHNE. In addition, I study the possibility and the potential impac...
متن کاملCollective mechanism of dilepton production in high–energy nuclear collisions
Collective bremsstrahlung of vector meson fields in relativistic nuclear collisions is studied within the time–dependent Walecka model. Mutual deceleration of the colliding nuclei is described by introducing the effective stopping time and average rapidity loss of baryons. It is shown that electromagnetic decays of virtual ω–mesons produced by bremsstrahlung mechanism can provide a substantial ...
متن کاملMulti-GeV photons from electron–dark matter scattering near Active Galactic Nuclei
Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) may emit highly collimated and intense jets of relativistic electrons which upscatter ambient photons. These electrons can also scatter off the cold dark matter halo of the galaxy to produce high energy photons which have a more isotropic signature than the up-scattered photons from QED processes. We propose to look for these high energy photons coming from AGN as a...
